Ireland are delighted to present DALKEYMOZARTFEST2006, an evening dedicated
to celebrating the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth and the lives of
his contemporaries. The Concert will take place on Saturday 25th March
at 8pm in St. Patricks Church, Dalkey. Tickets are available on the night
and in local outlets throughout Dalkey, and cost €20.00. Well-known
presenter, RTE Prime Times Mark Little, will compere the concert.
With performances
by some of Ireland’s top musicians of some of the most famous
and dazzling arias from operas, magical movements from well known string
quartets and stylistically sophisticated solo works, DALKEYMOZARTFEST2006
promises to be an evening to remember.
INSPIRED
BY MOZART is a historical, musical journey which transports the
listener through a myriad of spectacular classical compositions starting
with Dowland and on to Donizetti, with a splash of vigour and verve
from Italy’s Verdi and a melange of Mozart.
Not only
does INSPIRED BY MOZART promise to provide
a chance to celebrate the undeniable gift that Mozart brought to the
Classical music era, but it will also allow the listener an opportunity
to learn about the fascinating historical link between one of the world’s
most beautiful villages and Dalkey born composer John Dowland. In Dalkey’s
own Sorrento Park, set into a rock face, there is a fine metal mosaic
of the poet and lutenist John Dowland, who was an intimate friend of
William Shakespeare. It has been said that his descriptions of the Dalkey
coast inspired the setting for Elsinore in 'Hamlet'."
Set in the
beautiful surroundings of St. Patrick’s Church Dalkey (opened
in 1843), members of the DALKEYMOZARTFEST2006
audience can look forward to the superb talent on offer by Tenor;
Karl Scully, Mezzo Soprano; Alison Dunne, Cellist; Tara-Lee Byrne, pianist;

and Alison have personally been hand picked and chosen as the Irish
representatives, tenor and mezzo-soprano respectively,alongside 10 singers
